Vivid Sydney began last year and featured four events – Luminous, Smart Light Sydney, Creative Sydney and Fire Water. The festival drew out Sydneysiders into the cold winter nights to watch light exhibits and music concerts. Almost 200,000 locals and tourists witnessed the wonders of Vivid Sydney 2009. The festival transformed the city into a living canvas of lights and art. There were about 24 light exhibits, including the changing lights of the Museum of Contemporary Arts facade and those of the sails of the iconic Sydney Opera House by Brian Eno. The event brought together a large number of musicians, songwriters and other creative people, producing some extraordinary nights of festivities.
